Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat varicose veins and spider veins. Our medical team injects a special chemical solution into the affected vein, which irritates the vessel lining, causes it to collapse, and forces blood to redirect to healthier veins.
How the Procedure Works
The Process: A specialist uses a very fine needle to inject a liquid or foam sclerosant (such as polidocanol or sodium tetradecyl sulfate) directly into the targeted veins. The procedure takes about 15 to 45 minutes and typically requires no anesthesia.
Recovery: Patients are generally advised to wear compression stockings or bandages for a few weeks to promote blood flow, reduce swelling, and prevent bruising. Normal daily activities can usually be resumed immediately, though high-impact exercise should be avoided for a few days.
Results: Treated veins generally fade or disappear within a few weeks to several months, depending on the size of the vein. Multiple treatment sessions are often required to achieve optimal cosmetic and symptomatic relief.
